We were in Lompoc, California at my son’s wedding when Isaac
became a threat. We celebrated Nick and
Brittany’s wedding but then needed to cut short our time in CA so we could get
home to prepare to respond to the storm.
We will be getting things packed so that we can head out on Thursday
morning.
We will be going to Bay St. Louis, Mississippi and serving
with Calvary Chapel Bay St Louis. We
have housing, showers and will have the ability to cook meals.
We are looking for folks to join our team. No matter what your skills are or aren’t,
what your age, etc., you can be part of the work that God will be doing there! We will be in place on Friday to begin the
work. This is a long holiday weekend, so
if you’ve got a day, a weekend, or a month, come and join us. It will be hard work (though we only ask that
you work at your own pace), but we promise you will be blessed!
We also are in need of funds for this trip and for the
ministry in general. Mary Jo and I have
been spending over six months on the road the past couple of years, and even
when we’re home, we are actively working on ministry-related activities. In addition, I still have to work to support
our living expenses. It is getting harder and harder to do both, though I am
not opposed to working whenever I can.
Also, we are not on staff at any church or ministry.
We have a couple of monthly sponsors, in addition to others
who give here and there, but we have been operating in the red this year and
Mary Jo and I have been covering most of the costs. We have been faithful and do not have any
personal debt except for our mortgage. God has been good to us!
In order for our ministry to continue to exist and continue
to move forward, we need monthly supporters.
Support can come from individuals, families or any group, organization
or church. Support can be in any
denomination; no gift is too big or too small.
In order for us to just continue what we have been doing, we
need to raise at least $7500/month. We
realize this is a drop in the bucket to God and we have been faithful in
trusting Him. We wanted to share this with those of you who
have been faithful in praying for us over the years.
Please pray and ask God what part He’d like you to play in
the ministry that He is doing through us His vessels. We are open to speak at your church or group
if we are in your area and can travel if it is feasible as the Lord leads.
Most importantly, please keep those affected by Isaac in
your prayers. It has already done quite
a bit of damage and will continue to do so as it moves forward. Please pray for safety for our team and all
of the other relief workers, and most importantly, that we wouldn’t put the
work in front of the ministry and that people will be drawn to the Lord through
all that is said and done.
