March 2010 Update
A lot has been going on since I sent our last email. I spent about a week home after my last trip to Haiti and then Mary Jo and I took off for NYC to once again minister at The Bowery Mission. We continue to foster our relationship with them as we serve alongside the guys who reside and work there and those going through the program. We had many opportunities to minister and disciple with the guys and I was also asked to do the chapel service one of the days I was there and was surprised to see a packed house. This was encouraging to us because the community had to attend to get fed, but the house has the option for the noon chapel service as most of them are pretty busy with their daily routines. Many took the time to come and hear what the Lord had put on my heart to share. We had planned the trip back in early January not knowing of the earthquake and/or what would transpire at the Bowery. As perfect as the Lord’s planning always is the trip didn’t interfere with anything we’re doing in Haiti and we were there at just the time when we were needed to help in the kitchen. We were asked to handle the chef responsibilities for the dinner meals the days that we were there. It was a great time of serving! Since we’ve been back from NYC the Lord provided some work for me to do which was awesome since I hadn’t worked most of the year being in Haiti and then NY, God is good! I’ve been staying in touch with Calvary Chapel Port-au-Prince and trying to stay up to date with all they have going on. They have recently received satellite internet service and Pastor Seige has done some posting to their blog. You can see it at http://ccpap.blogspot.com. I recently received an email request from Seige and here’s a copy of what he wrote: Calvary Chapel Port-au-Prince schedules a 4-day fast from Wednesday March 31 to April 3rd. As a body of believers, we will be praying to confess our sins to the Lord as a church and also as a nation. We will pray for our brothers and sisters sacrificing to help Haiti and for directions individually, collectively as the church of Jesus-Christ in Haiti and for the nation as a whole. We need to hear from the Lord, let us pray so that our ears can be free from distraction. Help us by coming alongside of us, even if it is a few minutes a day during this period. We have also been contacted by our friends at CC Costa Mesa about helping out with the outreach that is being planted in Jacmel. For now we are trying to help with the shipping of several containers from CA and Mississippi to CC Ft. Lauderdale, FL. From there things will be shipped to Haiti. We are praying about what all the Lord would have us do with this endeavor. The plans are to go in and help the city of Jacmel get back on their feet and they have secured land for 18 months with an option to continue for another 18 months. To view a list of items that are being collected for this outreach please click here. We are also looking into what we can do to help our missionaries, Patrick and Barb Lataillade. They were in town this past weekend and Patrick preached an awesome sermon on all of our weekend services. Soon I’ll have a link to the message on our website, or you can log into our churches website in a week or so and they should have it up as well. Very much worth watching if you missed it! Patrick and Barb are recouping well. The doctors are amazed at how quickly they are progressing. Patrick and their son Agape have already been back to Haiti! They will be returning at the end of April and I may be joining them to see how we can further serve in Haiti. There are several ways to keep up with us that you can find on our contact us page of our website. We’ll continue to keep pressing on and covet your prayers and support. Our church has recently set up a way for those who wish to give towards our personal support. You can now donate tax-deductible money by check or on-line, simply mark it for our personal support. Be assured that we won’t be taking any money from the relief fund for personal support as these will be two separate accounts. As we receive more money for personal support we will be able to spend more time doing ministry including more time in the field as needed. You can also give money directly to us, but there won’t be any tax deduction for it, just between you and the Lord.Proclaiming the Lord in all we do, In season and out of season.
